Need a hand? Here's how spool works, and how to reach us.

spool is an iPhone app for capturing one-second video clips and weaving them into little films — on your own or together with friends. If your question isn't answered below, email us at spoolwithfriends@gmail.com and we'll get back to you.

Getting started

Tap New spool, then hold the red REC button to capture a one-second clip. Keep adding clips over the day — spool stitches them into one continuous film you can play back any time.

Making a spool with friends

Open the Parties tab and tap New party, then Invite to share a link. Anyone who opens the link on their iPhone can join and add their own clips. Everyone's clips sync into one shared film.

Clips are sent directly between phones — so the first time you use a party, please tap Allow when spool asks for Local Network access. Without it, clips can't sync between devices.

Editing

Saving & sharing

Tap Share to save your finished spool to your Photos library, ready to post or send however you like.

Reporting content & removing people

In any shared spool, open the title menu (tap the spool's name) and choose Report a problem to flag content for us to review. To remove someone from a party, open the People list and remove them there.

Your data & deletion

spool has no accounts, no ads, and no tracking, and your videos never leave your device except to go directly to a friend. Leaving a spool removes your clip details from it. To have everything associated with your device deleted, just email us. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.
